I met him on the night

I followed the trail of the fallen star.

I saw him from a distance,

Looking at the sky that shone a little less brightly.

As he was tracing the path of the disgraced celestial,

Our eyes met.

The connection was instant and intense.

We spoke of what could have happened

To our beloved ball of luminescence

And I was swept away by his brilliance.

But by dawn, we had both acceded to the loss.

He held my hand briefly,

And just as quickly,

He faded into the shadows of a new day,

As lost to me as my fallen star.
